Patterson Prepares for 8th Annual State of the County Address

PONTIAC, Michigan (January 31, 2002) -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will deliver his 8^th Annual State of the County Address on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Michigan State University Management Education Center, 811 West Square Lake Road in Troy.

During his approximately 45-minute speech, Patterson will cover many issues including new technology initiatives the county is undertaking, increased security procedures being implemented in the wake of September 11 and future challenges facing Oakland County.

For the 2^nd consecutive year, Patterson's address will be webcast by Altimedia, a Warren-based media-streaming firm.

Booths will be set up in the lobby outside the auditorium to showcase various Oakland County departments including Health, Economic Development, Parks & Recreation, Community Corrections and Emergency Management. Some of the displays will also feature state-of-the-art technology such as the new GIS system for the Drain Office, CLEMIS, Automation Alley and waste electronics recycling.

Due to limited seating capacity, attendance at the State of the County is by invitation only.
