Pontiac, Michigan - George Miller, director of Oakland County’s Department of Health and Human Services, announces the resumption of the county’s seasonal flu vaccination clinic next week. The supply of vaccines, however, is limited.
"After working diligently with the manufacturer, it appears that the federal government was persuaded to release a supply of vaccines," says Miller. "However, we expected our remaining 8,750 doses, but only received 4,000."
The seasonal flu vaccination clinic will resume Tuesday, October 20, 2009 until Friday, October 23, 2009 or until the supply of vaccine runs outs. The seasonal flu vaccine clinic will operate 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day ONLY at the North Oakland Health Center . The clinic is located at 1200 North Telegraph, Building 34 East, Pontiac, Michigan 48341.
The Oakland County health department reminds residents that the seasonal flu vaccine is not recommended for people who are allergic to eggs or flu vaccine; had a serious reaction to flu vaccine in the past; previously developed Guillain-Barre syndrome within six weeks of getting a flu shot; or who have a fever.
