Oakland County International Airport will be the starting point for Operation Good Cheer sponsored by Child and Family Services of Michigan (CFSM). This year more than 4,000 infants, children, teenagers and adults with disabilities will have their Christmas wishes come true. Some of these children have never owned a bike, a baby doll, or a new toy in their lives. Recipients of this program are some of the most seriously troubled and vulnerable children in Michigan. They have been abused, neglected, and separated from families unable or unwilling to care for them.
Thousands of volunteers from more than 80 businesses and corporations will gather to purchase and wrap gifts from a child's wish list. Volunteer pilots load their aircraft with gifts and deliver them to city and county airports across the state. At each airport, the pilots are met by agency volunteers who distribute the gifts.
Volunteers are needed to unload, sort and load gifts on Friday, December 4th and Saturday, December 5th (Volunteer Application)
Pilots are needed to transport the gifts on Saturday, December 6th (Pilot Application)
