Plat Review
The Oakland County Register of Deeds is responsible for checking and processing all subdivision plats, preliminary and final. This function is performed by the Plat Engineer and Chief Deputy Register.
The County Clerk serves as a clerk to the Plat Board, working with the staff to see that the signatures are obtained, paperwork is complete and that the plat is sent to Lansing for approval.
The Plat Engineer oversees the compliance to state regulations by developers of condominiums, checking and approving each condominium before it is recorded. The Plat engineer is also the County Representative acting as planner and coordinator for the Michigan State Survey and Remonumentation Program which was initiated in 1991.
Much time is spent in research, fieldwork, planning sessions and computer work to monument the corners in each section of each township according to state mandates.
