Vital Records/Birth Records Exceptions for Certified Copies

For applicants who are heirs, legal guardians or legal representatives of a named person on a birth record.


Additional documentation is required for applicants stating they are an heir, legal guardian or legal representative of the person named on a birth record.

Documentation may include:

  • Guardianship documents.
  • Legal representative documents.
  • Death certificate of the parent.

You cannot conduct these transactions online if you are required to provide these documents. You must submit your request in person or by mail to the Oakland County Clerk's Office. (get address)
