Interlocal Agreement to Share the eHealth Food Application with the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
June 12, 2009 Oakland County issued a Press Release on an Interlocal Agreement ( , file size 67k) to share their eHealth Food and Inspection Licensing System with the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA). Oakland County and the State of Michigan have entered into an interlocal agreement in which Oakland County will share their E-Health Foods software application with the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA). E-Health Foods was jointly developed by Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) and Oakland County Information Technology (IT) to automate management of food establishment licensing and health inspections. The E-Health Foods application has also been recognized as an effective and innovative program by the National Association of Counties (NACo). The Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) evaluated several licensing and inspection systems and chose Oakland County E-Health Foods module as the leading system to help facilitate consistent data collection statewide. The decision to share and re-use proven software assets with state and local partners demonstrates Oakland County’s commitment to innovative solutions. Shared technology helps in maintaining services, creating greater efficiency, and reducing costs for everyone. Statewide utilization of this system is an opportunity to conserve taxpayer dollars by consolidating resources and increasing efficiencies among food inspection programs. Additionally, statewide data sharing will assist with public health surveillance activities including identification of potential food borne illnesses that may occur across multiple jurisdictions. You will need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader if it is not already installed on your system.
