A Model for Success: Linking Oakland County's Small Town Museums and Historical Societies
On Saturday, April 23, 2005, the Oakland County Historical Commission is sponsoring a free workshop, "A Model for Success: Linking Oakland County's Small Town Museums and Historical Societies." The workshop will be held at the Troy Museum and Historic Village located at 60 W. Wattles Road, Troy, Michigan 48098 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
The workshop will focus on developing winning partnerships, collaborations and links. Professor Thomas Dietz from the Kalamazoo Valley Museum will lead a discussion on developing a model for encouraging historical agencies to meet regularly with one another. Museums and historical societies can get much more accomplished by sharing and working together, rather than going it alone. For example resources and collections can easily pooled to create regional exhibits on a wide variety of themes or topics to serve a larger and more diverse audience.
Other panelists include Kristie Everett Zamora, Director of the County's Office of Arts, Culture and Film Department and Loraine Campbell, Manager of the Troy Museum & Historic Village. There will be other speakers, but the format of the workshop will encourage all participants to share their ideas and thoughts in achieving a dynamic model of success for the promotion and preservation of our collective local history.
Advanced Registration is preferred for this Oakland County Historical Commission workshop but not required. For more information and to RSVP please call 248-624-3010.
