Oakland County Homeland Security Division, under the Health and Human Services Department, provides emergency management planning, response, recovery and mitigation services for natural, technological, national security and nuclear emergencies or disasters affecting Oakland County, Michigan.
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has designated the month of September 2010 as National Preparedness Month in Oakland County and encourages all residents to take action to be ready for the next emergency. Individuals are encouraged to take steps to ensure they are ready by developing a family or business emergency and communication plan, assembling an emergency supply kit, preparing to shelter-in-place or evacuate, and staying informed and getting involved in community preparedness efforts.
