Floating Holiday (d)


(a) Holiday schedule established in accordance with Merit Rule 26. This schedule applies to non-represented employees and to represented employees whose labor agreement provides for this schedule.

(b) Refer to Merit Rule 26, Section III which states, "Whenever certain holidays fall on Sunday the following Monday shall be considered the holiday."

(c) Refer to Merit Rule 26, Section III which states, "Whenever certain holidays fall on Saturday the preceding Friday shall be considered the holiday."

(d) In addition to the listed Legal Holidays, County employees who have completed three months of County services shall be entitled to a "Floating Holiday" each calendar year. When using the Floating Holiday, employees shall be granted the day off and shall be paid at their regular rate for the day, just as if they had worked. There shall be no holiday premium pay for this day. The employees' department head shall be responsible for considering the best interest of the department and County service when approving use of the Floating Holiday.
