Whether you are looking for a leisurely family hike down a rail trail or passing through a historic neighborhood on your morning commute to work, Oakland County has it all!!
The emerging network of trails, pathways, and blueways traverses much of the 910 square miles of the county. Many of the narrow sidewalks in the southeastern portion of the county link neighborhoods to parks, schools, commercial districts, and town centers.
The rail trails in the northern, central, and western areas of the county serve as regional connectors to other areas in southeastern Michigan. These trails often link to park trails, provide public access to rivers and streams, and allow for many recreational uses.
These uses can include hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, and inline skating. If canoeing or kayaking is more your style, then we invite you to explore one of the three meandering blueways in the county. The Huron, Shiawassee, and Clinton rivers all provide a unique paddling experience close to home.
