About Planning & Economic Development Services
The Oakland County Planning & Economic Development Services (PEDS) division was formed in 1994 as the result of merging the Economic Development and Planning divisions.
The PEDS division is committed to better serving their customers and has developed a Strategic Plan that maps out a vision, mission, goals and objectives. It has further extended these concepts into a realistic action plan. The Strategic Plan was developed around the following vision statement:
Oakland County, the premier county where people can live, learn, work and play, business can prosper, and communities can thrive in a healthy, vibrant and safe environment.
This vision embraces three target communities the division services: business, residential and environmental communities. The vision was translated into a specific mission, namely:
A Division committed to promoting economic vitality, supporting distinct communities, and conserving environmental resources through knowledge, cooperative initiatives and consultation services.
PEDS has molded its programs, services and organizational structure around this mission statement.
