Core Program Mission Statements

Land Use & Zoning
Prepare and provide land use information to, and zoning and master plan reviews for, Oakland County communities to improve land use coordination and decision-making.

Downtown & Commercial Redevelopment
To maximize the economic potential and to preserve the heritage and sense of place of Oakland County's historic commercial districts by encouraging and facilitating the use of the Main Street Four-Point Approach which emphasizes economic development within the context of historic preservation.

Environmental Stewardship
Prepare and communicate information, plans, and options that promote and facilitate proactive, coordinated, locally-driven conservation of Oakland County's natural environment while supporting sustainable economic growth, development, and redevelopment.

Historic Preservation
Promote the preservation and enhancement of Oakland County’s historical and cultural resources through the preparation and distribution of information and products that encourage sustainable economic growth, development, and redevelopment.

Training Opportunities

As a community leader, you can depend on Oakland County's Community Planning & Consulting Group to offer a variety of training programs designed to enable you to better meet the needs of your community. Training opportunities, available to elected and appointed officials, planning personnel and community employees, cover such topics as Advanced and Basic Planning and Zoning Application.

The team provides legislative review of township zoning and master plans and also serves as a resource for community leaders, residents and other professional to equip them with the tools to implement a new process or execute a new procedure.
