A Spatial Analysis of Sheriff's Deeds for Oakland County Communities

It is no secret that the number of foreclosures, both nationally and in Oakland County, has increased tremendously in the past several years. The negative impacts of this crisis are felt by the homeowner, lender, neighbors, and the community.

The spread of foreclosures has been shown to contribute to increased crime, blight, and neighborhood abandonment. Additionally, diminished home values are reducing local governments’ primary revenue - ad valorem property taxes. Oakland County Planning and Economic Development Services has created a service to help communities.

The purpose of this service is to provide maps, data, and GIS-based analysis that help Oakland County communities address the negative impacts of the mortgage foreclosure crisis on their community.
