About the Heritage Conference
Oakland County Planning and Economic Development Services' held its 12th annual Heritage Conference on Thursday, September 10th at the Crofoot Ballroom in Downtown Pontiac.

... Changing Times
The 2009 Heritage Conference proved to be much different from past conferences.  The theme, Adapting To Changing Times, was more "fast paced" by incorportating shorter 20 minute sessions.  The Crofoot Ballroom lends itself well to this theme with its ultra urban setting.

Morning Walking Tour
Following the morning announcements, attendees toured various locations of Downtown Pontiac.  The tour highlighted several buildings - including the Crofoot Ball Room, Strand Theater, Turner Building, Erebus Haunted House, Saginaw Street Lofts, and the Oakland Art Center - examples of building renovation projects that have incorporated adaptive-reuse and other innovative strategies for people to live, work, and play in Downtown Pontiac.

Lunch and Afternoon Sessions
The afternoon provided six back-to-back 20 minute sessions.  These sessions ranged from Eating Close to Home to the Film Industry to Sustainability and the Built Environment.  For a complete description of all sessions, view the assets/images/icon_pdf.gifconference brochure (2.8 MB).
