Coats for the Cold
Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Community Services
Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard is officially kicking off 23rd year of the "Coats for the Cold" coat drive on November 13, 2009. The dates for this year's coat drive are November 13th-November 30th. The "Coats for the Cold" coat drive is sponsored by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) and Stevens Worldwide Van Lines. PODS is providing portable storage units at several locations around Oakland County, and Stevens Worldwide Van Lines is providing boxes at many of the drop-off locations as well. Click here for a full list of drop-off locations. "Coats for the Cold is an easy way for the community to reach out and help someone less fortunate stay warm this winter," Sheriff Bouchard said. "For the past 23 years, we have worked with local charitable organizations to provide free coats to those in need. The community's generosity has been wonderful. We want to fill up every one of these boxes and PODS with coats and get them to the folks that need them." The new or clean, used coats collected during the month of November will be given to several different charitable organizations, who will then distribute the coats to those most in need at no cost.
