The Pop In and Play event scheduled for tonight is cancelled due to the weather, but Oakland County Parks staff will still be available to hear your vision for the future of David H. Shepherd Park. We'll be at the Oak Park Community Center Room B from 5-7 p.m., so please drop by and let us know what you think about revitalization plans for the park.
Oakland County Parks and the City of Oak Park are partnering on a project in the northern 17 acres of Shepherd Park that feature approximately a quarter mile of paved walking paths around the perimeter, pavilions, grills with tables, playgrounds and a nature path. This area will continue to be owned by Oak Park but will now be operated and invested in by Oakland County.
As the revitalization project gets under way, we want to hear from you about the items that are most important to you in a park.
An open house is also scheduled from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Oak Park Farmers Market in the Oak Park High School main parking lot. We'll have staffed stations with maps of the facilities as well as information about the history of the park. Attendees can identify park amenities that are most important to them.
Plus, we'll be rescheduling Pop In and Play, so watch for an upcoming announcement to enjoy jumbo games as well as inflatables and other activities soon.
