Oakland County Older Adult Services
In Oakland County, we are committed to providing access to a whole host of services for all of our residents, including our growing population of older adults. That’s why, in collaboration with the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, we created an Office of Older Adult Services to educate our residents about the improvements and expansions of services we offer older adults.
It’s also why we invested $3.2 million during the early days of the COVID pandemic toward getting residents in nursing homes equipped with personal protection equipment, tested for COVID and vaccinated, as well as providing free grocery delivery services for more than 5,500 older residents. It’s why we invested nearly $5 million toward improving Senior Centers across Oakland County. We understand that these senior centers provide a network of friends, services and educational and nutritional programming that help keep Oakland County’s older residents engaged, active and healthier both physically and mentally well past retirement.
And it’s why we work every day with departments across Oakland County, from Veterans Services to Health and Human Services, the Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center and Oakland County Parks to make sure services are accessible, affordable and even, in some cases free, for older residents. Our older residents have contributed so much to our families, businesses, neighborhoods and communities. It’s now the right thing to do and our responsibility to provide them with the tools and resources they need to live their best lives.
