Business Finance Corporation (BFC)

Oakland County administers loan programs tailored to the needs of expanding companies, organizations and entrepreneurs. The BFC administers the SBA 504 Loan Program which provides long-term, low-rate, fixed-asset financing for health, expanding companies in Michigan.

Business Retention & Growth

Oakland County’s Business Retention & Growth (BR&G) team connects with businesses to understand and support their needs for growth within Oakland County. Working with State and local partners, BR&G seeks to strengthen the economy by providing quality resources and programs to Oakland County businesses.

Business Resource Network

The BRN is an employer-led solution with a common interest: employee retention. Our network of businesses have access to a success coach that connects employees with a variety of barrier-busting resources, enabling them to reduce stress, and stay engaged and employed. Joining the BRN will allow the program success coaches to prioritize employee retention at your company, enabling your Human Resources team to focus on recruiting and filling your company’s open positions.

Gives access to these quality resources at no cost: resumé writing, job search options, interview preparation and career coaching.

Defense & Aerospace Conference

Those interested in selling to the Federal government, as well as sub and prime contractors interested in growing their manufacturing and engineering capabilities through federal contracting to strengthen their company objectives to amplify the defense ecosystem here in Oakland County, and beyond.

Economic Development Corporation (EDC)

Oakland County administers loan programs tailored to the needs of expanding companies, organizations and entrepreneurs. The EDC issues tax-exempt bonds for fixed assets for qualified manufacturing businesses and non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations.

Financial Fitness Program

Oakland County Michigan Works! is launching a brand new series of financial wellness workshops to help you address a variety of challenges and seize financial opportunities. There is something for everyone.

Topics include: credit and debt management, budgeting, investing, credit scores, paying for higher education, retirement planning, homeownership, elderly care, and more.

National, state and regional experts lead the workshops, which are open to anyone who is interested in better managing their money.

Food Assistance Employment and Training Program

Do you need food, job search or training assistance? Individuals with food, job search or training needs may volunteer to participate in the Food Assistance, Employment and Training Program, managed by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS).

Oakland80

County Executive Coulter launched Oakland80 with a goal of having 80 percent of adults with a post-high school degree or credential by 2030. This will lead to residents earning higher wages and pursuing more in-demand careers while employers access highly-skilled talent for their workforce. Oakland80 is managed jointly by the County Executive’s office and workforce development division under the economic development department and is supported by a Task Force comprised of innovative leaders from education, business, and labor organizations.

You may qualify for free expungement assistance through Oakland County Clean Slate Program, for persons who have criminal records, expungement opens the door to better jobs, better housing and educational opportunities - a better quality of life.

The North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium (NoHaz) provides residents with a safe, reliable and environmentally responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste.

PACE Financing

Property Assessed Clean Energy, or PACE, is a long-term financing tool for commercial property owners in Oakland County to pay for energy efficiency, water efficiency, and renewable energy upgrades and environmental hazard projects. Property owners receive 100% pre-funding for eligible upgrades on their facilities and pay the PACE loan back through a special assessment on their property taxes.

Revolving Loan Fund (RLF)RLF Logo

The Oakland County Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) was created to provide gap financing to businesses negatively affected by COVID-19, primarily small businesses owned by minorities, women or located in an economically, disadvantaged area. However, all Oakland County small businesses are welcome to apply.

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Program

The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Program is a federal program established under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Reauthorization Act of 2015. The program provides multiple benefits to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports.
