SEMCOG’s 2050 Regional Forecast—Oakland County by the Numbers
The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments’ (SEMCOG) 2050 Regional Forecast offers a long-range and comprehensive view of future demographic and economic changes in Southeast Michigan. It provides base data for updating the Long-Range Transportation Plan and supports regional and local planning in the areas of transportation, water quality, air quality, and community and economic development.
Local communities can use the data in planning for future infrastructure and development needs. The forecast results include 30-year projections of population by age, households by type, housing units, and jobs by economic sector. These projections are critical in understanding how many people will live and work in our region in the future. Knowing where households and jobs will be located helps us understand where to plan future infrastructure improvements, including roads, bridges, water, and sewers.
Join us as SEMCOG’s demographic and forecasting staff guide us through a look at Southeast Michigan and Oakland County’s past, present and future by the numbers.
