Therapists, volunteers and supporters who want to learn adaptive golf teaching skills are encouraged to attend an Adaptive Golf Coach Training Workshop hosted by David Windsor, PGA, Adaptive Golf Academy Founder/Principal and Jonathon Snyder, U.S. Adaptive Golf Alliance. During this workshop, coaches will become comfortable and confident teaching individuals with any impairment using safe, effective techniques and adaptive equipment. Through videos and photos, the morning session at Waterford Oaks Activity Center will present an array of common scenarios from physical/mobility impairments such as spine injury and loss of limb to cognitive and sensory issues like brain injuries and low-vision/blindness. The afternoon session, which will take place at Carl’s Golfland in Bloomfield, will offer on-site self-adaptation practice before participants work first-hand with local residents.
Local adaptive golfers are invited to join for the golf clinic from 3-4:30 p.m.
This is an approved NCTRC Continuing Education Session (6.5 CEUs) and PGA professionals may receive up to 9 PDR’s (6 on Friday and 3 on Saturday). The $75 fee, payable at registration, includes lunch and all materials. Register by Monday, April 15. For more information or to register, email OCPrecreation@oakgov.com or call or text 248-221-8040 and leave the participant’s full name and telephone number.
