Bring a blanket or camping chair and join Oakland County Parks and the Oakland Astronomy Club for Perseid meteor shower viewing and family fun from 7 p.m.-midnight Aug. 10. Free family-friendly activities from 7-10 p.m. will include glow golf, Solar System Trail walks led by an OCP naturalist, kids crafts and coloring table, airbrush tattoos with glow-in-the-dark glitter, free glow bracelets and fairy glow hair for kids, samples of astronaut treats, s’mores around the fire and popcorn to enjoy during the meteor shower. Live music will be provided on stage by Merge.
At 9 p.m., enjoy a 30-minute presentation by Oakland Astronomy Club volunteers followed by the opportunity to share the club’s telescopes to view Saturn, the Andromeda Galaxy and star clusters in the night sky. Participants can take in peak views of the Perseid meteor shower from 10 p.m.-midnight.
There is no cost for the event activities, but park entry is not included. Guests will need an Vehicle Permit or pay the daily park entry fee. Park entry fees are $5/car/day Oakland County resident rate or $12/car/day regular rate.

When registering, please provide total number of guests, number of children (for crafts and glow bracelets), a phone number and an email address in case of inclement weather. Program is subject to cancellation if weather is inclement. Check-in begins at 6:30 p.m.
