Workforce Development Technician

DeAnte Thompkins is a high-energy person who specializes in workforce development, public speaking and community outreach. After graduating from Northwood University in 2010 with a business degree, he joined the workforce with the Michigan Department of Transportation. At MDOT DeAnte primarily serves as director of the Metro Region's Youth Development and Mentoring Program, TRAC Program coordinator, and co-op coordinator. He has mentored and hired over 600 students. He created a program with a 100 percent high school graduation rate and a 100 percent transition rate of those high school students going on to a four- year college, community college or skilled trades/apprenticeship program.

Thompkins is the GiveBack director with Model the Motto, an organization he and some childhood friends started in 2012. The organization primarily focuses on being a vessel for change in the community. He was named to the 2015 class of Crain's Detroit Business 20 in their 20's. He received his graduate degree from Central Michigan University.
