Kristin Sliwinski is a passionate educational leader who has dedicated her entire adult life to making a positive difference in the lives of others. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in special education and elementary education with minors in mathematics and agricultural science. Her career focus has been working with students who having unique, individual needs not being met in a traditional school setting. She served as a special education teacher for thirteen years. As a life-long learner, she earned her Master in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College in 2009 as well as a Master of Arts in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University in 2012.

Since 2015, Kristin has served as the Supervisor for Learning Options High School, which is an alternative education program for students who are at-risk within Lake Orion Community Schools. Her leadership has focused on innovative programs and curriculum development efforts that developing not only the academic skills of students, but also social and emotional skills needed to maximize growth and success. Most recently, she led the school-wide implementation of the Positivity Project, which is a nationwide movement designed to empower youth to build positive relationships with others. Under her leadership, Learning Options High School is continuing to grow and has the highest graduation rate in its history. Kristin is also the Virtual Learning Coordinator for students in Lake Orion Community Schools. She is able to provide more individualized learning opportunities to students who benefit from a non-traditional learning environment.

As a wife and mother of three children, Kristin is passionate about her family and community. She is a board member of the North Oakland Community Coalition which provides education and programs related to underage drinking, youth substance use, and mental health to encourage a responsible community. She is an active member of Kensington Church in Lake Orion. She is also a member of professional groups including the Michigan Alternative Education Organization, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, ASCD, and the Counsel for Exceptional Children.
