Born, raised and living in Southeast Michigan his entire life, Andrew DeHaan, who is the owner and orthodontist at DeHaan Orthodontics in Lake Orion, has never left Michigan other than the typical week-long family vacation to Florida or a mission trip to Honduras.

No place else feels quite like home, he said. He loves the local golf courses, skates at the local hockey rinks and, as a former Eagle Scout, talks to Boy Scout of America troops in the area.

His deep roots in the region were bolstered by bachelor's, master's, dental and doctoral degrees from the University of Detroit, Mercy. He's a past president of the Oakland County Dental Association, a member of the Orion Chamber of Commerce and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

DeHaan and his wife live in Waterford with their son.
