Aerospace/Defense

Oakland County has launched the Diversification Through Federal Contracting (DTFC) program to provide businesses with the resources to win federal contracts. The goal is to increase the value of federal contracts won by Oakland County businesses from approximately $300 million to $1 billion by 2025, thereby creating thousands of new jobs in Defense, Aerospace, and other related industries.


Automation Alley

This is a consortium of almost 1,000 leading-edge high tech companies serving the region and leading the implementation of Industry 4.0.

Tech Hub

Oakland County encourages collaboration and innovation among the region’s 2,000 IT/tech companies, and engages the next generation of tech workers by involving local high schools, technical colleges and universities.

Motor City - Plus

The region is famously home to the headquarters of General Motors and Ford Motor and the Stellantis (FCA) Automobiles’ North American Headquarters — right in Oakland County. In partnership with the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Road Commission, Oakland County is creating the first business plan for how communities across the U.S. can implement and pay for connected car infrastructure.


Airports

Air commerce is easily accessible from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW), Oakland County International Airport, and Bishop International (FNT). Direct flights to Japan, China and Europe are offered daily.
