Supports
Eligible Oakland County residents can take advantage of financial support while in training!
To help our residents achieve their career goals, we have partnered with Oakland County Michigan Works! to offer financial support to pay for books, supplies, transportation, childcare, and other related expenses while students are enrolled in training. This support is made possible through the American Rescue Plan.
Opportunities
Michigan Achievement Scholarship
Starting with the high school Class of 2023, students will be eligible for more financial aid from the State through the Michigan Achievement Scholarship.
Michigan Reconnect Program
Free community college tuition to earn an associate degree or Pell-eligible skill certificate for eligible young adults.
Michigan Reconnect Short-Term Training Program
The Michigan Reconnect Short-Term Training Program, a new career training scholarship that saves students $1,500 as they gain skills needed to prepare for in-demand jobs. To apply, interested students must complete an online application.
To qualify, students must submit an application by Dec. 15, 2024, and begin their career training program prior to Dec. 31, 2024.
Michigan ECHO Scholarship
The Michigan Equity, Courage, Hope, and Opportunity Scholarship (MI ECHO) offers a tuition-free pathway for students who are not eligible for federal financial aid. It is designed to serve individuals who hold an immigration status that is excluded from most traditional financial aid opportunities.

MSU Announced a Tuition-Free Guarantee
MSU announced a tuition-free guarantee for high school graduates who have a family income of $65,000 or less and qualify for the Federal Pell Grants. If you’re curious which public universities offer tuition-free guarantees, the Michigan Association of State Universities has a list of programs here.
Fostering Futures Scholarship
The Michigan Department of Treasury reminds young adults who have experienced foster care on or after their 13th birthday that they are eligible to apply for a scholarship from the Fostering Futures Scholarship Trust Fund.
