Our world’s exciting push toward new electric vehicles is having a major impact on Oakland County companies.

Automakers are taking giant steps to transform their vehicle lineups to incorporate electric and hybrid models. Suppliers are developing the advanced batteries, components, systems and charging technology needed to make these vehicles go.

The region’s manufacturing workforce, likewise, is transitioning, with new skills needed to design and build tomorrow’s vehicles.

Oakland County Michigan Works! is partnering with The EV Jobs Academy, the Global Epicenter of Mobility and educational institutions to provide Oakland County residents with training to prepare them for jobs in EV and Mobility. Up to $5,000 in tuition is available for each eligible student and program. This is a rewarding career financially, with an average salary of $72,000, based on a 2023 report issued by the State of Michigan.
