- Click on the link to go to the Michigan State Police website to search for their record in the Michigan State Police database:
- Click on the Login tab.
- Select “Log in as a Guest User” and answer all necessary security questions.
- Once completed, accept the ICHAT Terms and Conditions ICHAT and select “Guest Log In”.
- Select a “Reason for Search” from the drop-down menu.
- Type in the First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Race and Gender (at time of conviction(s)) of the person requesting their records and hit “Submit”.
- You must confirm that the field information is correct. Select Yes or No at this stage.
- The next screen shows that your order has been completed. Click OK.
- The next screen will show at the bottom in the “Checkout” box the number of searches you have requested. Remember, your automatic set-aside may take time to process. Each record request will cost $10, even if no record is returned.
- Once you click on the Checkout box, the next page will require you to check the box next to the name of the person you searched for and will also show the amount owed.
- The next screen will ask you whether you have access to a printer if you want to print the search results (if not, you will be required to pay for a new search or download the search as a PDF to print at a later date) and if you would like a copy of the receipt to be sent to your email address.
Important: You only have seven (7) days to view your search results if you don’t print them out or save them!
- Next, you will be asked to select your payment method (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover) – both debit or credit cards are accepted.
- Enter your name and billing address, email information and your credit/debit card information.
- The next screen will have you authorize the payment – ‘Pay Now”.
- If you have more than one conviction on your record, not all the convictions may be eligible to be automatically expunged. Therefore, while one or more convictions may have been expunged and removed from your record, your ICHAT search may still include convictions that may be ineligible to be expunged.
If you have more than one conviction when running your ICHAT, there is a chance that not all the convictions have been set aside. Therefore, your ICHAT search may still include charges that have yet to be expunged.
To learn more about which convictions have been set aside and which remain on your record, contact
the convicting court.
We recommend that you save the search as a pdf so that you can print it later if needed.
