The Healthy Pontiac, We Can! (HPWC!) coalition supports and promotes initiatives, organizations and events that improve quality of life through healthier and more active lifestyles. Oakland County's Health Division formed HPWC! in 2011 to help Pontiac residents gain access to healthy food, physical activity opportunities, and tobacco-free living.

HPWC! is a diverse group of educators, human service agency specialists, faith-based representatives, government leaders, healthcare professionals, public and mental health experts, and residents. We are an informal group that encourages sharing of current projects, learning opportunities and resources related to our goals. No single group or agency can make a community healthy—so much more can happen by working together. Partnering on planning, promotion and funding helps make our resources work smarter. The coalition's endeavors become improvements throughout the city that make Pontiac a healthier place to live, work, and play.

HPWC! Strategic Plan

Healthy Pontiac, We Can! conducts a Pontiac Community Survey every 3 years to learn more about what Pontiac residents felt was important to help make their community healthier. Our most recent Pontiac Community Survey was conducted in 2021 and the results helped inform parts of the coalitions strategic planning process.

The 2022 - 2025 Strategic Plan is a proposed guide for coalition work moving forward. Implementation of individual focus areas will be determined by availability of resources and partnering agencies, as well as funding for specific initiatives. The coalition will continue to seek partnerships and funding opportunities to implement these initiatives to the fullest extent possible.
