Red Oaks nature center staff leads a interpretive program for school age childrenChoose from two nature centers with customizable program offerings, or campgrounds and volunteer opportunities. Oakland County Parks can even get your group from Point A to Point B with our Mobile Recreation program. Plan your next group picnic at one of eight parks, two beaches, a waterpark or a wave pool.

Field Trips, Nature Presentations and Nature Tables

Schools, Scouts, senior centers and other groups can schedule nature center field trips, including the StarLab experience, and tailor the program content to specific topics. School programs are designed to meet Michigan Science Standards.

Traveling outreach programs include nature presentations, nature tables and virtual take and learn field trips. StarLab, an inflatable planetarium, is offered as a program at the nature centers or as an outreach experience.

Scout Programming

Programming for scouts of all levels are offered at Red Oaks and Wint nature centers by appointment. The interactive, hands-on programs allow scouts to satisfy all requirements for various badges. Appointments can be made for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as well as other scouting agencies like American Heritage Girls, Trail Life USA, Girl Guards or Sunbeam Scouts. Camp Wilderness

Designed with youth groups in mind, Camp Wilderness at Independence Oaks County Park offers two adjacent campgrounds accommodating 60 campers and 100 campers, respectively from May through October. Learn more about our campgrounds.

Are you in charge of the picnic this year?

Is an end-of the-school-year/season picnic in your future? Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks, Lyon Oaks and Red Oaks feature picnic shelters with cooking grills as well as playgrounds, hiking trails, swimming beach, boating, fishing and even nature centers. One waterpark, one wave pool and two beaches offer a splashing good time as well as picnic areas. Consider adding a Mobile Recreation unit for loads of supervised fun!

Aquatic Destinations

Book your group at Red Oaks Waterpark or Waterford Oaks Wave Pool for a day of fun and celebration. With wave-action pools and spray areas for smaller visitors, they are the perfect location.
