Financial Empowerment Center
The Oakland County Treasurer’s Office Financial Empowerment Center provides free and confidential financial counseling services, including financial assessments, debt and credit counseling, budgeting, and assistance with mortgage foreclosure and delinquent taxes to help senior citizens manage their finances and achieve their goals. Paying off your home mortgage is a significant accomplishment. However, homeowners must be aware that their monthly mortgage payments included their summer and winter property taxes, which become their responsibility when the mortgage is paid off. Creating a financial plan to ensure your property taxes are paid will prevent property tax foreclosures. Contact (248) 858-0672 for more information or assistance.
