Oakland County Water Sustainability

Oakland County is home to over 1,400 lakes and numerous streams stemming from 6 major watersheds. Protecting our water is critical for our health, for the resilience and beauty of our natural ecosystems, and for the many recreational activities that rely on our waterways.

The Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner has services and educational resources to promote the protection of our drinking water and the stewardship of our natural waters.

Additional County services can be found through the Department of Health and Human Services’ Environmental Health Division.

You can also find resources and volunteer opportunities to get involved by looking at local organizations, such as the Huron River Watershed Council and the Clinton River Watershed Council.
