Board of Commissioners recognizes Oakland County residents with Black Excellence Award
Five residents received the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Black Excellence Award at last night’s Board meeting. The program was part of the Board’s commemoration of Black History Month, which also included proclamations recognizing the event.

Township residents soon to get rides from NOTA

Pontiac considers adding source of income to housing nondiscrimination ordinance
Several cities across Michigan have passed similar ordinances. In 2021, Oakland County commissioners launched the Fair Housing Initiative to encourage cities to pass local source of income protections. In the state legislature, HB 4063 has been introduced that would make it the law statewide.

Oakland County grant program to encourage senior volunteerism
In September 2022, the Board adopted a resolution appropriating ARPA funding to support the Oakland Together Senior Initiatives, and it included funding for nonprofit organizations that provide senior-centered services in Oakland County to increase evidence-based volunteer management practices.
