Lyon Oaks County Park expands accessibility
The park has opened the Woods Edge day-use area, which applied universal design principles to a playground, flexible exercise space, pickleball courts, parking lot and the Huron Valley Trail.

SEMCOG announces new officers, including Vice Chair Gwen Markham of Novi
The 2024-2025 leadership of SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, was elected at SEMCOG’s Annual Meeting on June 27, 2024. The General Assembly elected a slate of candidates with representatives from cities, townships, counties, and education.

Lyon Oaks County Park gets new features, including accessible pickleball courts
In addition to the Lyon Oaks County Park in Lyon Township and Wixom project, the Oakland County Parks Healthy Communities Park and Outdoor Recreation Investment Plan is funding improvements at parks in Hazel Park, Royal Oak Township, Madison Heights, Oak Park, Pontiac, Southfield and Waterford.

New SMART route connects Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Waterford and White Lake
Oakland County’s transit ad hoc committee will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, in the Commissioners’ Conference Room at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 12E in Pontiac. The agenda includes presentations on SMART ridership numbers and a proposed competitive grant to improve access to SMART vehicles.

Historians seek to add Pontiac cemetery to Underground Railroad Network for Freedom sites
A coalition of Oakland County historians is working to nominate Pontiac's Oak Hill Cemetery, thought to contain the unmarked graves of at least eight freedom seekers and early abolitionists, to the National Parks Underground Railroad Network for Freedom.

Gun buyback events planned before Saturday’s three mass shootings
