The project received funding from the Oakland County Commission and a matching grant from The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation Built to Play Program. The city added to the total to help get to the funding goal. In late 2021, The Tony Hawk Foundation granted the $250,000 match.

During its April 11 meeting, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Brendan Johnson to appropriate $250,000 for new restroom facilities at Innovation Hills Park in Rochester Hills.

In September 2022, the Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution appropriating American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to support the Oakland Together Senior Initiatives, and it included an allocation of $3 million for the development of three-year county senior chore pilot program.

In October of 2022, Oakland County Commissioners approved a $20.2 million investment plan with half being ARPA funds and have county funds, and there’s been an effort to make improvements in communities that had not historically seen county investment in parks, as well as increasing accessibility.
