On Thursday, February 22, 2024, Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged a juvenile in connection with the shooting death of 40-year-old Robert Wayne Lee II, known online as “Boopac Shakur.” The 17-year-old is charged with Homicide, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Felony Firearm.

Several cities across Michigan have passed similar ordinances. In 2021, Oakland County commissioners launched the Fair Housing Initiative to encourage cities to pass local source of income protections. In the state legislature, HB 4063 has been introduced that would make it the law statewide.
