Steps to file a motion procedure:

  1. File the proper Motion, Brief, and Notice of hearing through MiFILE and mail an extra copy of the Motion and Brief marked "Judge's Copy" for all judges.
    1. ALL separately captioned documents must be filed as separate documents in a bundle.
    2. For Example: Notice of Motion Hearing, Motion and Brief are three separate documents in the same bundle.
  2. The Notice must state: Date and time to be determined by the Court.
  3. File a proof of service for self-represented litigants.  A separate Proof of Service is not needed if the other party/parties are registered users of the MIFILE system and are selected to receive service at the time of filing within MIFILE.

If you have any questions, contact the Civil Division at 248-647-1141 ext. 147.
