Honorable Judge Robert Bondy
Chief Judge Pro Tem of the 52nd District Court 1st Division
Judge Bondy was elected District Court Judge in 2002, 2006, and 2012.
Judge Bondy received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, with honors, in Criminal Justice, from Michigan State University, June 6, 1980, Juris Doctorate Degree, cum laude, from the Detroit College of Law (now at Michigan State University) on January 28, 1985. He has also completed other graduate study courses in public administration at Wayne State University. Judge Bondy, in addition to being admitted to practice law in Michigan, was also admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
Judge Bondy has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1985 and served as a hearing panelist on the District J Committee for Character and Fitness for 12 years. Prior to being elected Judge, he was involved in the creation of the Small Claims Mediation Program at the 52-1 District Court, The Day of Court in School Program, a board member of Sobriety Court and participated in the District Court Town Hall Meeting Program. Judge Bondy is a current member of the Michigan District Court Judges Association, and Past President of the Oakland County District Court Judges Association.
While a judge at the 52nd District Court 1st Division, Judge Bondy helped establish the Minor in Possession/Consuming Alcohol Court/Program and has been involved extensively in the court's Sobriety Court/Drug Court Program. Judge Bondy has been involved in the movement and creation in the court's community service program establishing a garden for community service workers out of Kensington Metropark which grows and provides food to the shelters, food pantries, corrections, and senior citizens.
