The IT Training Center is a unit of Oakland County's Department of Information Technology. It provides instructor-led services for the County's standard software products such as: Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Training is available to Oakland County employees and Oakland County Information Technology customers. All onsite training courses will be held at either the Executive Office Building (EOB) Conference Center or Information Technology (IT). A student guide is provided for instruction purposes and becomes the property of the student at the conclusion of the class. A maximum of 16 students per class is allowed to ensure that the students receive the individual attention they deserve. Students are provided with their own PC making hands-on experience a priority.

The Oakland County Training Center produces a quarterly Course Schedule of classes. This schedule contains the time, date, location and duration of all classes offered.

Oakland County employees can search and register for a course by accessing Workday, clicking the Learning worklet, then selecting Discover…Browse Learning. CVT and contract employees must initiate their registration by completing a Registration Form and emailing to training@oakgov.com.

Note: Employees are required to obtain their supervisor’s approval prior to registering for any course or participating in on-line training services

On-site Customer Assistance

Customer assistance is available for those who are struggling with file conversions or in need of general assistance with file setup. Depending on the complexity of the customer assistance request, training classes at the Intermediate and/or Advanced levels may be required prior to scheduling an appointment.

Note: Customer Assistance is available for Oakland County employees only.

Based on availability, instructors will:

  • review your needs
  • determine which method can best accomplish the task
  • help you get started on conversion of files
  • provide further guidance, if needed
