The project received funding from the Oakland County Commission and a matching grant from The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation Built to Play Program. The city added to the total to help get to the funding goal. In late 2021, The Tony Hawk Foundation granted the $250,000 match.

During its April 11 meeting, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Brendan Johnson to appropriate $250,000 for new restroom facilities at Innovation Hills Park in Rochester Hills.
