My Choice ... My Health

Becoming more active and losing a moderate amount of weight can help you change your family history. The My Choice. . . My Health: Diabetes Prevention Program® will help you take steps to prevent type 2 diabetes.   (This program is for people who have not been diagnosed with diabetes but may be pre-diabetic or have had elevated glucose numbers during past health screenings.)

Participants will be part of a small, supportive group lead by a trained lifestyle coach. You’ll learn about healthier eating habits, ways to be more physically active and other behavior changes over the course of 16 weekly one-hour sessions. After the 16 weekly sessions are finished you continue to meet monthly, completing a full year of My Choice. . . My Health.

As a participant, you’ll be working towards:

  • Losing 5-7% of your starting body weight
  • Being physical active for 150 minutes per week

My Choice. . . My Health: Diabetes Prevention Program® will help with:

  • Moving your muscles
  • Controlling your portions
  • Finding your healthy weight
  • Being part of a group
  • Taking back negative thoughts
  • Staying motivated

16 weekly sessions followed by monthly maintenance sessions.

Program Sessions will be held August 11th – December 15th from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Executive Office Building, Farmington Hills Conference Room (Lower Level – located outside of Purchasing)
