“This Ride’s on Us” Veterans Transportation Program

Beginning on June 1, 2024, Oakland County Veterans Services, in collaboration with the Oakland Transit division, will be providing free transportation to any location in Oakland County. Participating transit providers include: SMART, WOTA, NOTA, OPC, and People’s Express (PEX). To schedule your trip, just call (248) 419-7984, at least 72 hours in advance. A DD214 or equivalent is required.

Oakland County Veterans' Services provides barrier-free transportation to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in Detroit and Ann Arbor for veterans seeking treatment. Transportation must be scheduled with our office in advance to ensure that we can accommodate.

  • Veterans must be in the North Office Building, 26 East, 2nd floor lobby, before 8:30 am to be transported.
  • Veterans must be in the Troy/South Oakland Office lobby (entrance B), before 9:00 am to be transported.
  • Veterans must be in the Southfield Health Department on the days listed below, before 9:00 am to be transported.
  • Home wheelchair pickups are available, but must be requested in advance.

Schedule

Appointments must be between 10 AM and 2 PM.

  • Monday: No trips
  • Tuesday: Pontiac & Troy
  • Wednesday: Pontiac & Southfield
  • Thursday: Pontiac & Troy
  • Friday: Pontiac & Troy
