Employee Development Opportunities for CVTs (Local Communities)

HR Learning & Development is a unit within Oakland County Human Resources Division. The primary focus of HR Learning & Development is employee development.

In an environment of ongoing budget constraints, organizations are being required to do more with less. In order to promote intergovernmental cooperation, Oakland County Human Resources has and will continue to provide training courses to local communities for their employees at a low cost to individual municipalities.

Employee training and skill development can assist organizations with finding new and innovative ways to get the work done while maintaining or improving current service levels. We encourage you to explore our website and consider the ways you and your organization can take advantage of the employee development opportunities we offer.

Our current rates for course offerings:

• Half-day sessions $90
• Full-day sessions $125
• E-Learning $50 annual fee for unlimited courses
  
  • We have expanded our e-learning library to include over 200 professional development courses
  • Oakland County has attained a new learning management system (LMS) called Workday which will be made available to our partners who register for our e-Learning courses.

Types of Training

Since 2008 Oakland County HR Learning & Development unit has offered both instructor-led and E-learning courses to our neighboring Cities, Villages, and Townships at minimal cost to promote intergovernmental collaboration

Instructor-Led Courses

We offer up to 40 professional development courses that encompass the following competency areas: Interpersonal, Collaboration, Self-Management, Leadership, and Management/Supervisory skills. Most of our courses are offered twice a year as either half-day or full-day courses.

e-Learning Courses

e-Learning courses are great supplement to classroom training that provides the immediate learning knowledge development. There are over 200 course to learn at the convenience of your computer and at your own pace. Our e-Learning course are currently offered through Skillsoft, a trusted partner and leading global provider of high-quality, innovative, cloud-based learning.

Course Information

Our training courses are designed to meet the needs of individuals at all levels of an organization. We offer both classroom-based and e-learning courses for supervisory and general employees. All of our employee development opportunities are based on competency models and are designed to develop the skills and behaviors, critical to effective job performance

Course Location

Our training courses are generally held at our Executive Office building 41W, 2100 Pontiac Lake Rd. Waterford, MI. 48328, unless otherwise noted.

Hosting a Session

Oakland County's goal is to work with local communities to provide training courses to their employees at a low cost to individual municipalities. If it is not conducive for your staff to attend training on-site, we are able to travel to local municipalities that express an interest in hosting our training courses. Please contact us for costs and guidelines. A Request to Hosting Agreement form must be sent to us to review you organization's request. A member of our team will reach out to the main contact on the request for more details.
