Solving problems in science, business and engineering using high performance computing approaches is just a portion of Dr. Shadi Alawneh’s work as an assistant professor of computing engineering at Oakland University. He also works in the university’s power systems engineering lab, to predict how these computing approaches might work with power systems. 

Alawneh is the creator of a new course at OU in the field of high-performance computing using graphics processing units as well as OU School of Engineering and Computer Science’s Excellence in Teaching award winner in 2021.

Alawneh has published 39 peer-reviewed articles, 12 journal articles and 27 articles in conference proceedings, one of which won a Best Paper Presentation Award in 2020. 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology as well as a doctorate and master’s degree in computer engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Alawneh lives in Lake Orion.
