A marketing, business, education and sports expert, Vincent Kirkwood has parlayed his work with professional sports teams into a career helping create healthy play environments as the Executive Director of Playworks of Michigan.

Kirkwood is also an assistant professor at Wayne State University and works in experiential marketing as a consultant in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. He also was an associate professor at Cleary University in Howell and worked in marketing for the Washington Mystics’ and Cleveland Cavaliers’ basketball teams.

He is chair of the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Department and chairs the township’s Taskforce on DEI. Kirkwood is also a trustee for Art Road Non-Profit, vice chair of the Michigan Sports Legacy Conservancy, a board member of the Coleman A. Young Foundation and the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit.

He received his bachelor’s and master's degrees from Wayne State University and is pursuing an Educational Doctorate degree from Concordia University in Chicago. 

Kirkwood lives in West Bloomfield with his wife and two children.
